Double Listing for Western Empire Embassy in Credia, Timiro

Both the 1st and 2nd ed of "Old Ones" list two different entries for the Western Empire's Embassies to Timiro (in Credia, the capital city).

On page 49 of 2nd ed of Old Ones, building 64 is listed as "Embassy of the Western Empire," and again on page 50, building 79 is listed as "Embassy of the Western Empire." (Page 40 of the 1st edition of Old Ones lists the same information for identically numbered buildings as those noted for 2nd ed).

Is this correct? (Does the Western Empire truly have two distinct embassies in the same city?) Is one of these supposed to be the Embassy to Timiro Kingdom of another nation? (The Land of the South Winds, perhaps?) Or is this just a mistake?

Thanks for any clarification.

Note that even today countries have their main embassy and and secondary embassies to service their citizens in other cities. (And to service the spy community in those other cities.)

Correct, but this is the same city, same side of town; seems redundant (or a typo; since the Eastern Territory, Byzantium, Phi and Lopan each also have an identified embassy in Credia, I suspect that one of the two Western Empire Embassies was supposed to be a Land of the South Winds Embassy, and was hoping/do hope to get an official answer).

This is the weird typo. Because it isn't as bad as 98% of the types in the PB gamebooks. It is more of a *shrug* than a 'huh??? does that mean?' or the left side of the page says one thing and the right side of the page says something different. Both of which lead to bitter arguments in the forums. Ending up with no-on agreeing on what it means, so everyone has their own house rules.

Might just write in that the one in the poorer side of town is the "safe house", while the one in the richer section of the city is official embassy.

Or the one in the poorer area is for the common WE citizen while the one in the richer area is for rich folk and the one that actually deals with diplomacy with the rules of the city.

Very good points, drewkitty, and it is one that I can easily fix in a game. Thanks for your suggestion and thoughts!

I think it is probably just a mistake (they occasionally happen in Palladium Books!)
If you need an embassy for the Land of the South Winds or other nation in your game then I would just make one of them that.
But if you want an in-universe explanation, then perhaps the Western Empire simply has such a large diplomatic staff that they had to expand into a second building?
Or - perhaps you could make one of the embassies house representatives from the Western Empire's Middle Kingdoms, attempting to legitimise their claim of independence? The Timiro government may not officially recognise it, but some powerful nobles or officials may find it beneficial to give them an unofficial residence in exchange for... something? Opens up an opportunity for adventure and intrigue!

Very good point, SoO; I'd completely forgotten about the internal WE political divide.
