The Game Master's guide is always helpful. That's where I go.
You also may find some (but not as many or as diverse) in RUE.

Re: Ammunition types
While there are smoke, flare, and gas grenades (not to mention arrows), I can find no listing for shotgun shells of these types. It is possible that the Exterminator was meant to function as both a shotgun and a grenade launcher, much like the Achilles Equalizer (SA2, p. 164).

Maybe? I guess i could substitute shotgun shells for grenades?

It's worth considering at least. The Exterminator description refers to its ammunition as "rounds" rather than grenades, but they could be grenade-like shells, similar to pump weapon rounds. The various grenades, arrows, and missiles of the above types seem to have similar effects, but different prices, and I'm not sure what a reasonable price would be in this case, nor, for that matter, how much an ammo drum costs, nor even how much ammo the ammo drum holds. This may require a consultation with the authors.

Hmm, still not sure about that. Though it is seriously disjointed from the rest of the megaverse the modern weapons book is more complete.

Yes it is. But I don't think it has most of the ammo types listed in the Book of Contemporary weapons

Re: Ammunition types
There are some specilty SD ammunition types described in the HU: Aliens Unlimited book. I don't know if they are the same types as in the book NS pointed out, but they are non-standard rounds.

Re: Ammunition types
for flares, i doubt there are game stats. real world stats though should be obtainable.
since this is a military weapon, i'd assume that illumination and signal flares are available. both go about 1000ft, usually fired straight up.
both tend to burn at an illumination of around 30,000 to 75,000 candela depending on color. burn time varies. signal flares are meant for just getting attention so generally burn for 5-6 seconds (about half a melee), parachute flares are meant for battlefield illumination so they tend to burn for longer, using a parachute to float down slowly. smaller ones (shotgun shell sized) generally burn for 40-60 seconds (3-4 melee's), the bigger ones (37mm, 40mm, and mortar rounds) can burn for several minutes.

they aren't meant for penetration. just illumination and getting attention.
if you want penetration get slugs or AP-explosive warheads.

The stats for a flare are in Merc Ops. 200,000 candela, fired 1000' feet up, 30 second burn time (2 melee rounds), cost 15 credits each. the parachute version will hang in the air for the duration.

You forgot to read everything I was saying.
I was talking about 'normal' RL cheap-o civi flares like those you can get at Wally-Mart. (well maybe not here in Calif anymore cause of the drought.)
I was not talking about firearm launched flares which would have the force of the Bullet behind them. thus they would do damage.
If they are described are actual "flare rounds" then they are some form of tracer rounds.
