Fun Character Concept Contest!
You know what doesn't get enough discussion on this board? Rifts Characters!
Here's a thread to post any fun character concepts you think of, no matter if you like them for their skills and abilities or for their personalities and backstories. They don't have to be powerful, they just have to be Rifts characters! I'll start!
I've always wanted to play an full conversion mining borg who works in tunnels that delve too deep, exploring subterranean ruins, uncovering ancient secrets and battling horrible demons that cannot be allowed to see the light of day. This character would be into demolitions and excavation of course but train to fight with real weapons instead of dulling his tools drilling monsters.
I imagine this borg exploring for some New West salvage company, working off what he owes on the conversion at a criminal rate of interest, always looking for that next big score to put a dent in his debt. This could lead him to routinely engage in dangerous and illegal explorations of cordoned-off ruins and ancient tombs best left unopened.
All in all, this character would be a blast to play. What characters have you imagined? Share your favorite characters from the past or post your most recent Rifts character daydreaming here!
Edit: Oh yeah, this is supposed to be a "contest" right? I'll run a 1-shot for the four characters who's players I think had the most fun creating them. Let's go!

Re: Fun Character Concept Contest!
I'm currently playing an Anthropomorphic Unicorn-Man. I got the idea after watching one too many episodes of a popular cartoon for little girls about pastel colored ponies with tattoo's on their hips.
My unicorn man (a zapper pcc) wound up on Rifts Earth after being exiled from his home dimension for impregnating his girlfriend before they were married. It just so happens that his girlfriend was a princess and he was her personal guardian. Now he's on a quest to regain his honor by selflessly helping others and performing other do-goody hero nonsense, all the while learning to adjust to the customs of these soft footed hyoomans.
"mommy look at the pretty blue and purple unicorn pony!"
zzzzaaaapp!!
"Aiiieeeeeeeeee run!!!"
"You know, you didn't have to fire a lightning bolt at that kid."
"I am Midnight Storm. I have commanded legions of the fiercest warriors of my people and defended the castle with my bare hooves. No one calls me 'pretty' "
"Still man, you don't try and electrocute little girls."

T-Man
T-Rex
Need I say more . . . well of course
So I came up with the following character while exploring an idea. Dinosaurs are a popular item in the market of splynn. So I created a T-Monster Man who was trained, and "equiped" to fight and capture dinosaurs.
I imagine him joining a group of PC's who are traveling through Dinosaur Swamp and get caught in the middle of a Splugorth Dinosaur Hunt.
You may notice that the attributes may look a little high, it's cause we have a silly little house rule that says you re-roll one's & two's during character creation.

Re: Fun Character Concept Contest!
I created two characters who I've never gotten the chance to play but I thought they'd be absolutely hysterical -- if short-lived.
Burt "Lampoon" Wonderstone is a Godling who's patron god-father is Loki whose inherited ability is actually an insanity / compulsion to play tricks and pull pranks. He has the O.C.C. of "Stage Magician" with all the tricks and gimmicks that mimic super-powers but only have a one-time use before having to be recharged or go back to his van or base and setup the "magic trick" again; he's got lots of gags like hand-buzzers and whoopie cushions and fake arms or mustaches. He's a master of ventriloquism and disguise and escape artist -- like a modern-day HOUDINI. He specialized in Ludicrous Magic and Trickster Magic. He's a bit of a loner but not by choice -- he can't seem to make any real lasting friendships and he performs as a traveling magician to eke out a meager living. He has a stage sidekick performer -- a young, beautiful woman who basically acts like his mother...or guardian angel who is constantly getting him out of trouble and keeping him out of jail and etc.

Re: Fun Character Concept Contest!
I think all of my character concepts are fun. I am biased though.
Zoisime Sharin is a true Atlantean stone master and hippie. She gets very excited by opportunities to gather more gems.
Walter "Raza" Jefferson is a human city rat hacker with a couple fun cybernetic implants and the highest IQ I probably ever rolled. He styles himself as the greatest detective since Sherlock Holmes.
Roland "Grinder" Long was a pretty-boy before his conversion to combat cyborg. I fudged things a little and gave him an extraordinary PB; it's a custom sculpted face. I describe him as entering battle with a transparent dome protecting his perfect hair and face. In his off hours, he dresses his mechanical body in expensive, custom-made suits.
Pi is a zembahk mind worm and refugee from Atlantis. It's an enormously fun character to play because it has no language to start with. I also play it as principled, so I spam non-lethal spells and psychic powers to disable opponents rather than injure them. Naturally I also spend a lot of time describing the sadness and frustration of the character when his allies kill the helpless opponents anyway.
Dai Robbae, the fox-knight, is a kankoran knight from England. He's great fun to play even though he hasn't got any special powers.
Kris is a mantaz sectile from England. With its limited magical abilities and power to control giant insects, it has a nice variety of fun things to contribute to a group.
Akula is a mutant lion dinosaur hunter who is obsessed with Triax gear.
Jerry Cornelius is a super-powered vagabond with amnesia who has adopted the persona of the protagonist from a Michael Moorcock novel. He is convinced that he is in fact a rock star and I creatively describe him projecting his vibration powers through his guitar.
My Bio-Borg Pack is a group of six characters generated for use as antagonists. They're a pretty cool group though and have plenty of unusual powers and equipment.
Iathul is an elven psi-warrior that I played as being part of an order of mystic knights that seem oddly similar to one featured in a very popular movie franchise.
Tizona, the mind sword, is a living rune weapon from an issue of the Rifter. I wrote her up as having been on earth for thousands of years, mostly dormant. She was at one time both the lover of and sword carried by El Cid.
Big Ape is a giant mutant gorilla from Lone Star who escaped to become a professional gambler.

Re: Fun Character Concept Contest!
A concept for a character I had for a while now and finally had the opprtunity to play in a one-shot game was a Rifts native Vagabond with super powers. As a child, his Rogue Scholar father would bring back to the farm lots of assorted, random pre-Rifts books. One in particular was a graphic novel depicting the adventures and powers of a certain comic company's "super man." The kid grew up idolizing this figure and, combined with his father's stories about the "Golden Age of Man" and the superhumans who existed at that time, this kid came to believe that the super hero he read about really did exist. Yet his father's stories about the world today made this kid sad, and he longed for that hero to return to the world again. In his teens he inexplicably found himself developing powers very similar to this hero's powers - was it divine providence, mind over matter or a fluke of luck? Who knows. But like the hero he idolized, Ken Clarkson left home in order to use his gifts to uphold truth, justce and a better way - not just for mankind, but for everyone.

i can just see how badly a meeting between him and my ATB character, Montero De Habana, the non-humanoid mutant T-rex Scholar, would go.
Montero looks like a T-rex the size of rhino. no humanoid features at all. he can't speak (has telepathic speech), and normal T-rex hands (has ectoplasmic hands for manipulating.), not to mention is an obligate carnivore still. skill wise he's a mechanic, plus has tons of archelogy knowledge. but it would be rather disconcerting to see a Rhino sized T-rex walking down the street.. even if said T-rex is wearing a shirt, pants, and spectacles..

Re: Fun Character Concept Contest!
some details:
Name: Montero de H'bana
Montero is a Technological Archeologist from the Kingdom of H'bana on the island of Cuba (known as Mesozoic-land elsewhere). Montero had been part of an expedition through the El Salvaje jungle to find the old Guantanamo Bay military base, which the H'banan military wanted to investigate in hopes of finding some pre-crash technology or weapons that could be used to change the balance of power between H'bana and Alqueria. The expedition traveled by boat along the coast towards Gitmo, in order to avoid traveling through the mutagenic El Salvaje jungle. however, when they arrived they found the Empire of Humanity had already found the base, and the Expedition attacked the EoH force, hoping to drive them out. The EoH force, much larger than the H'banan's believed, defeated them, and Montero and a number of others were captured. Since Montero was seen as useless for Physical labor, he was not made a slave, but instead was shipped back to the Empire of Humanity for study.
Montero was to be shipped to Technoville by truck, but wrong dose of anesthetic allowed him to wake up early, and he escaped from the convoy, and worked his way overland while trying to avoid EoH patrols. this drove him North-west, where he eventually fell in with a trading party heading over the Appalachians and into the midwest. he sometimes wishes he could return to his homeland, but finds the greater freedom to be found in North America a great improvement over the military government of H'bana. He especially loves how many more pre-crash sites there are to explore. He knows, roughly, where his home is, but has little incentive to actively seek out a way to return. even if he could make it back, he would be treated with suspicion unless he brought back something the H'banan government thought important, and now that he has experienced the greater freedom to be found in North America, he wouldn't enjoy living under the yoke of the h'banan government again.

Re: Fun Character Concept Contest!
I made a ton of characters (posting from my phone, so I can't really post stats) but some of my more memorable characters include:
Samantha Bunny: Pleasure Bunny Sheriff with a PB of 35. Yeah, if you were to think the bikini model with a gun belt was to be underestimated, just wait till she blankets the area with seduction pheromones!
Garaa of the West: Mutant body fixer who never used weapons and had the powers of APS sand, RADAR, And Untraceable. Roll mutant trait and got bright red hair. I was also on a Naruto kick.
Tank: Ogre Dragon Juicer/Juicer Scout. Pretended to have a low IQ (because the stereotype of ogres being dumb) but had an IQ of 15 and an affinity with axes. Had 2 small magical hand axes (Dark wing did extra damage to dragons, Light Wing was a holy hand axe, and a ripper battle axe) and was born by a human female.
Talia: Splugorth allied True Atlantean Curse Bringer (from Rifter
who worked with her twin brother to battle the forces of good.
Dante Maximo: PW mutant vagabond with the powers of linguistics, space native, zombie flesh and massive damage capacity (house rule times the numbers for this power by 10 on PW or Rifts Earth) along with an adapted space flight that disallowed flight on a planet or in any atmosphere. He was the cook, lounge singer, linguistic (duh) and all around arrogant piece of (bleep) around.
If that's not a weird round up, nothing is. And I've yet to pull out the mother daughter characters of Asuka Manjoyme (daughter spells it manjyome).

Methos Darkblade
If you smell who the rat is cooking.
Super or otherwise, you are just a man, while I am a God!
-Darkseid
That was fairly ruthless father. I hope I made you proud.
-Aqualad
Always better to crash the mode
