May 2013 Robotech Design an Ace Contest... results??

Pretty much the title explains it. Palladium and Ninja Division held a contest in May for fans to submit paint schemes for inclusion in the Robotech Tactics book and for a free painted mini in the winning scheme for each winner. The results were supposed to be posted in the first week of June but have not been posted 4 months later and counting. I can understand a delay but it is doubly frustrating when there is an almost complete official media blackout on the subject from the official sources. In the past four months, I can only recall a vague mention of looking into it with no publicly visible results afterwards. For more info on the entries submitted and the conversation about the subject from the fan side, check out the link below.

Palladium, if you're not going to post the results for this simple community contest, can you at least mention it in one of the upcoming updates with some accurate information about the ETA? It's a bit awkward having May 2013 in the title but I want the title to have some info for readers coming to this forum for the first time. With how late the previous two crowdfunding efforts are (over a year and still counting), I figured I'd have to put both the month and the year in to be clear.

i would have liked information on this before the kickstarter pledge manager had closed might have changed what or how much i added to my pledge. now it really doesnt matter if i get an extra piece or my char gets mentioned in the rule book cool if not no big thing .

What changed how much I pledged was the Gencon exclusive debacle. This contest, at this point, is a matter of principle. If you're going to engage the community in a contest, you should keep your promises otherwise it backfires. Of course, the same principle applies to taking people's money for product based on a set of promises and that hasn't exactly worked out well either.

*Fingers crossed* Hopefully the first week of June was just a typo for the first week of November and the lack of specifying a year to go along with June isn't a purposeful omission...

You didn't miss anything as no one has commented on it since September (and IIRC that's been the only comment on it since the original due date). The bigger update from this week didn't make any mention of it at all. I was just trying to be optimistic but clearly it was pointless.

I asked somewhat recently and only received silence on that front.

Pft.

Everyone knows that the "first week of December" is the new "first week of June".

;-)

It now occurs to me that this project would require vetting entirely original paint schemes, names and possibly minor bits of fiction. This had better not be part of the things delaying the project. Especially since it was supposed to just be a little side show to the main attraction.

I have a feeling at this point, from what I have seen them post and not, that it is in the hands of Harmony Gold.

In the end, the complete lack of mentioning it is Palladium's fault as is not making it a priority. Since Palladium finally seems like they've gotten a clue as to how much work this whole Robotech thing is (and stopped posting revised months earlier delivery dates when they simultaneously couldn't get the pledge manager working for 2 months), I suspect this contest that only generates good will (or bad will the later it gets) and no additional money is low on the priority list. I can understand it not being a priority but not simply ignoring it for 5 months except for a single sentence.

Relax guys everyone knows the winner will be featured in the rulebook or several schemes will be featured in it.

The rule book is 98% done!

The winner hasn't been chosen yet!

WE FOUND THE LAST 2%! :-D

All joking aside, I sincerely hope that with all the progress we've started to see in the last few weeks, that we finally get an answer on this in December. If they aim to deliver in February, those boxes need to be on a ship in January, which means production needs to start in December (and given the size of the run and a ton of other factors, these are HUUUUUGE generalizations; shipping can take extra weeks due to customs issues, bad weather, delays loading, etc, while production can hit snags that waste days and weeks fixing up), which means surely they have something to say on the matter in the next few weeks.

I mean, barring further delays. ;-)

As long as they don't use the same factory that soda pop is using for RK. I think Jorel is right about when we'll get our stuff. Seeing how things turned out well for the folks who waited for NG1, I can see that patience pays. So I'm confident in PB an ND. At least it's not run by CMoN.

This whole Robotech miniatures is all new territory whereas publishing an RPG book is what they are experienced in. I don't think Northern Gun was the right example to set. Also I'm not confident in Palladium to deliver. I support them, and I want this game bad, but I won't really believe it until I see the package at my doorstep. Also my confidence in Ninja Division is stating to thin a little as I see how their other endeavors are currently panning and I see how many different companies they are currently courting. I wonder how much of their time/attention is really dedicated to Robotech as well.

Looks like Soda Pop has improved their sculpts by their newest video on FB. So it looks like if RRT is produced at the same factory the models will look sharp. It's an improvement from last weeks video.

It's funny I'm not even a backer of RK but it keeps coming up in the comments section, so I thought I'd check it out since some of the ND folks are from soda pop.

Glad to hear from Kevin's murmur that the fellas were getting final manufacturing details from ND.

So... we were told multiple winners in June and we get a single winner in December instead. Whatever.. it's over. I hope that the actual Kickstarter won't be a day late and a dollar short like this publicity event unfortunately ended up being.
