I think the only way gnomes and archery go together is if you fire a gnome from your bow...

well . . wouldn't a human's 'short bow' be a gnome longbow?
Creator of the Chi grenade. Used in game by Kevarin [GM] and self as Mai - Civilian Martial artist that got amped via experiment. Ghost weapons and shirts rule.

Nano Missiles - used once and GM banned further use. They weren't THAT bad. and did stop a demon scout ship from returning with valuable info.

They would use a horse bow (aka composite bow).
May you be blessed with the ability to change course when you are off the mark.
Each question should be give the canon answer 1st, then you can proclaim your house rules.

A side note of particular interest... how many of you have had Human-sized characters use Gnome-sized cross bows as a sort of medieval sidearm? the small size makes it perfect for one-handed firing and the darts/bolts can be tipped with any number of poisons and toxins to bolster the 1-6 damage, and they are more easilly concealed under cloaks, capes and jackets than a full sized bolt tosser.
Sure, lions and tigers are stronger...
But I've never seen a wolf jump through hoops in a circus
