Palladium SRD? Why not? Just like the d20SRD?

Unread post by washout »

Why not create and release a rules compendium of just the basic rules similar to the D20 srd except for the megaversal rules set? This propelled an entire huge secondary market for DND wouldn't it help palladium in a similar way?

This has more than just the public release and availability of the rules as an advantage. You can also have a good collected rules compendium where everything is all collected online in one place (the palladium website I'd assume). Which this system could use, considering issues like vehicle rules being non existent in rifts unless you buy heroes unlimited etc.

Not touching this with a ten foot pole...

Search past discussions on the topic... and there have been lots.

Because there are several different Games put out by PB and none of them use the exact same rules set.

This has been heatedly argued before and rejected.
To say that I was displeased that during that argument I was called a lier for stating the exact technical truth that PB publish several different Games using the same base system & not just one game with different settings would be understating the case.

List of the different PB games in their current produced editions.
Spoiler:
➤ PF RPG 2nd ed & 1st ed books
➤ Heroes Unlimited
➤ After the Bomb 1st & 2nd ed books
➤ Ninja and Superspies
➤ Beyond the SN 2nd ed
➤ Dead Reign
➤ Nightbane
➤ Rifts RUE edition and 1st ed books and revised books
➤ Rifts Chaos Earth
➤ Splicers
➤ (coming) TMNT 2nd ed
➤ Recon
➤ The Mechanoids
Since you brought up DND...list of games that use that current system and don't argue that they are the same game because they use the same system.
Spoiler:
➤Ed 5
➤Pathfinder ed 1
➤pathfinder ed2
➤star finder
if someone knows of more feel free to add onto this list.

Now if you were saying to make all the weapon compendiums easier to use with the PB gamebooks and putting them back into just two books. (or three with the castles and defensive works in their own book.) Then I'd likely have nothing but good thoughts about it.

I honestly don't even mean a universalially compliant SRD. Just one that is publicly releasable as a generic megaversal system similar to microlite platinum, but you know, not microlite. Because it's kind of sad that the only generic systems are these sorts of kludges instead of something official from the company.

Then there is the part where you didn't expand the abbreviation SRD in your OP.
Abbreviations are fine...just make sure to use the words of the abbreviation at least once in your OP so everyone knows what you are talking about without having to go anywhere else to find out what the <verb> you're talking about.
