Galactic Tracer 'Domino'

Unread post by glitterboy2098 »

Recently a phase world game started up, and i figured that people might be interested in some of the details with my char and the group's ship, be it as a point of discussion or just as an NPC for their own games. eventually i'll probably transfer some of this over to my website.

My character is an Altess, and a Galactic Tracer. which required some extra care with the background, and let me have some fun filling in some of the gaps in the game's information on Altess society.

since we will be having a 2 week timeskip or so this won't really reveal anything to the group that they wouldn't be learning during the timeskip.

Mirin Amarante Séverin, Vicomtesse of Tanais, House of Séverin.
Originally born to the minor house of Guérin, Mirin was adopted into the major house of Séverin at a young age. Her father adopted her into his house to legalize her as his heir, despite his inability to marry her mother due to politics. Although her father's favored child, Mirin chafed at the expectations inherent in the position of heir, and sought what escape she could in hobbies of piloting, combat simulation sports, and other such pursuits. Mirin eventually lost her status as heir when her father entered into a political marriage, which produced a legitimate Heir. When her new sibling had reached adulthood, Mirin covertly arranged to leave Altess Dynasty space, an act of rebellion performed in a desire to experience the galaxies beyond the confines of Altess society. Mirin has since become the Galactic Tracer known as “Domino”, after her signature white and black armor. While not the most well known Tracer around, she has had a fair degree of success, in part due to having gathered a small retinue of professionals to aid in her work. She has attempted to keep her Tracer persona separate from her Altess identity, at least in the public eye, which has helped her avoid the recovery teams dispatched by her father and the Altess Dynasty, as well as given her the occasional advantage in tracking her bounties.

NE-8SL Slim-Line “Barrage” Plasma cartridge autopistol with 4 magazines, NE-102 “spitfire” Mercenary Multi-rifle with 3 full magazines and 8 short E-clips, TW megablade Katana, Vibro-wakizashi, 12 Naruni Microgrenades (8 Frag, 4 HE), 8 Stun/Flash Grenades, 4 Tear Gas Grenades, 2 Smoke Grenades, NE-BA-26 Special Body Armor (Thermo-kinetic) with the N-F20A Force Field, Optics Enhancement, HUD visor, Advanced Communications Package, and IFF & targeting comp upgrades, and 40 boxes of NE-001PC ammo (3,840 rounds)

Since the name "altess" is only one letter away from the french word for "highness" i decided to adopt french titles of nobility, though some british traditions snuck in due to the need to fill in some gaps in my research. since it is an alien society a little mix-and-match works. better than random keyboard mashing like the Fleet's book and the miltiary ranks it included.
She is a Vicomtesse more as a courtesy title, as it is technically just one of the lesser titles her father holds, but it comes with an estate and obligations and the like. Tanais is one of the large Breaker facilities on Yarrow, where the Altess dispose of their older and damaged space vessels. it mostly handles the the 4th reserve fleet, as well as various non-military vessels. not the most important or famous holding, but a valuable one and a useful source of income for the Séverin family. While Mirin is running around "playing at being a Tracer" it's being held in trust. which also means she cannot access most of her wealth and other benefits from being in the family.

Her ship, and the mobile base of the group, is the Armchair Traveler, a one of a kind starship that Mirin had commissioned before leaving to become a Tracer. Named as a joking reference to several of her relatives, who spend a lot of time reading about the exotic worlds, societies, and places of the three galaxies, yet have never left the borders of Dynasty Space. The Vessel started out looking quite pristine and sleek, although after several years of service as a Galactic Tracer's vessel, it now carries quite visible repairs, mismatched replacements, and exposed systems, giving it a rather shoddy and patchwork look that matches its origins. Internally it's mix of Standard, scratchbuilt and salvaged military grade systems are quite quirky and prone to interfering with each other, but the vessel is quite roomy for its size. (this ship was built using the Galactic Tracer article in rifter 34. some details were filled on based on similar sized vessels from the dimension books)
for the game, we are using this deckplan, with a few mods: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BxIuaT ... sp=sharing (the forward cargobay, #5, has been converted to the Brig. the Port stateroom, #4, has been converted to house additional bunks. and the Portside work room, #9, is the Armory)

Really interesting to read. By the way, have been some time since i read the main book, but i see no space combat skill. I think pilot small spaceships gives you basic space combat, but i don't know if you are ok with that or will need to upgrade to elite.
Also, what is cyber-breasts? Seems interesting XD Which books does that cybernetic appears?

since for this char the starship is more for getting from Point A to Point B in the course of hunting down the individuals with bounties on their heads, not having the extra bonuses is not a big concern. she's a bounty hunter, not a fighter pilot. :)

plus the campaign so far has been looking to not be very space combat heavy.

Bionic sourcebook. they are one of the cosmetic options. basically it is implants that provide support and can reshape them to a certain degree (allowing her to shrink or enlarge them by a size or so each way, and flatten them to fit into armor and the like)
i picked it because it seemed like the kind of thing an altess might consider for fashion purposes and practical purposes. plus it lets her fit into EBA that is more androgynous looking.

It makes sense, not every character with a ship has to be the ultimate spacejock. I have been on and off working on a campaign of my own to be about a group of part time bounty hunters, part time explorers, part time smugglers, etc... but i expect them to be in some space combat so i will hope one of them selects good combat skills. But anyway still a lot of work to do before beginning so no hurry.

Didn't knew about the implant, but sounds like a good thing to use, specially if your character is trying to hide her identity, posing as a male bounty hunter. But i expect that an Altess woman would have perfect body anyway, so no need for cosmetic reasons ;)

Please post any other info you get from the adventures, will be great to know more about the other characters

Richard (pronounced Ree-chard) Dulac was born on the planet Nocturne as the second child of a comparatively low class noble family. As such, he stood to inherit little wealth (again, comparatively), so to increase his social statuc, he joined the Altess Intelligance Agency. He was very good at his job; his most prominent act was to ferret out a Sunaj assassination ring. This brought him to the attention of the Patriarch of the Serevin Clan, who hired him as a "minder" for the prodigal scion of the Clan, Mirin.

The Alress race has a reputation of being arrogant, and Richard does nothing to disprove this stereotype. His is supremely of both his abilities and his appearance, and contantly looks down on any being who isn't Altess. He realises that Mirin and her crew won't like him because of this, the fact he was forced to join them, and that he is a spy, but doesn't care. He is very loyal to the Altess Dynasty, and will do as much as he can to protect it.

Great character. Any bios/stats on her companions?

I've been wanting to run an Altess as part of a group of near Demi-Gods type characters on Rifts Earth, or maybe in a Chaos Earth setting. Maybe a small Phase World merc group made of Star Elves, Space Minotaurs, Anvil Dwarves, Altress, True Atlanteans, Promethians and so on who make a stand for the survival of civilization.

Elijah Stormfall "the King of Clubs" (Star Elf male) Warlock Marine Magic Specialist (now a member of Domino's crew)
Elijah was born and raised in the UWW. He showed an aptitude for Magic and was encouraged by both parents to pursue it as he wished. His family was considered poor by Star Elf standards so they could not afford to send him to a good school for training. Nor did his abilities seem to come naturally to him and his temperment, rather brazen for an Elf, left only one choice for him.
At the tender age of 60 he joined the UWW Warlock Marines, they nearly broke him in Boot and the subsequent years of magical training and tactics molded him into a formidable, if not more arrogant, being. For three years he led an Elite group of Marines called the Clubs. They were named for their penchant of beating their opponents senseless with their fists whenever possible. Which in the nature of Intergalactic Conflict, meant they were all certifiably crazy.
Elijah decided to take a hiatus from the Corps and didn't re-enlist. He soon found out that life as a civilian was not really for him. Another former Marine turned him onto Bounty Hunting and that Domino was looking to put a new crew together. So he gathered his meager belongings and has taken off into the wildness of space with no clue what is instore.
