Little Manga sized books ??

err...  :?

I'd rather see a Mainbook the size of Rifts Ultimate Edition with full color art pages, hardcover...

Guess I just might skip buying the new books then...

I'm not sure what he ment exsactly, I don't think they'll be that small. Probablly a lot closer to what Machinations of Doom was.

*Dances a lively jig*

Hooray!
I'd get up in the morning and watch the sun rise over the yardarm of my sky-ship as the sails billowed in the breeze and the land slid by 300-odd metres below. I'd grasp the mahogany ship's wheel, turn her nose a few points back onto the line, and feel pity for all those poor bastards below who have to work for a living. - My idea of the good life in Rifts.

Manga Style? I wonder if that's similar to the Macross II books they put off years ago in conjunction with DP9? Or something similar to DP9 or Heavy Gear? I hope they redo the O.C.C.s. I was working on a campaign recently and decided to remake the O.C.C.s. For example, you could pick a Veritech O.C.C. and then a Hovertank M.O.S. There would have been M.O.S.s for most of the O.C.C.s. This is a campaign I've been planning since 2001. I know this is a long time to work on a campaign but I can only do alittle bit every couple of months and I'm planning major events for a campaign spanning 7 game years. The players are members of the Robotech Guardian Forces in the year 2085.

I"ve already mentioned it to my FLGS that there will be new products for Robotech from PB sometime in the near future. He said he'd keep his eye out for their release.

Sourcebooks, not the Main Rules book?

I'm not a fan of the Manga sized books, but probably could deal with the Sourcebooks at the gimmick size.

Maybe something like has been done with the R.Talsorian adaptations of Bubblegum Crisis, Armored Trooper Votoms, and Trigun....big storyline section, plenty of illos, some of the production artwork...and the RPG material squeezed in between....?

Im pretty sure that what Kevin meant by Manga format is the size will be smaller than most books. Not page count, just size. Take a look at Guardians of Order's old BESM books. They were manga sized and worked damn well.

If Kevin wants to go with manga sized Robotech books, Ill still get them...especially if there is a hardcover version.

However I never really viewed robotech as an anime. More like a cartoon like G.I Joe or Transformers....only better!

Although I am surprised no one has made a G.I Joe RPG yet.

Robotech: Shadow Chronicles the RPG will be released manga-sized, with anime-style art (of course). This does not mean less text or less art, it just means it'll be a little smaller.

That said, we are talking about a full-sized collector's version to be released some time after. No details or confirmation on that at the moment, as we're still figuring out what we're going to do with it.

In the meantime, feel free to offer suggestions of what you want to see in the stickied suggestions thread above.

One of my favourite RPGs is BESM 2nd Edition from Guardians of Order.
Its a manga size roleplaying game. Its got a huge page count and it's damn nice looking too.

If the Robotech RPG is like that, I have no problem at all with them making it manga sized.

I'm with the Goth Techno here.
What the heck is the deal here?
Sorry, but this is a money LOOSING idea; very much like the N-gage concept.
Keep it standard format. Period.
This is a friendly warning. Doing it micro-scale for a print run will only loose money and possibly veteren players.

Well, I disagree with you folks. I don't think its a money losing idea. I think its a great idea.

Lots of games are not the standard size and are successful.

However as a Robotech fan, Im buying this book regardless if its manga sized or standard.

I agree. What difference does it make what size the book is as long as it contains the info needed to play and some artwork? You people are just making a mountain out of a molehill.

I see your eyes are not aging like the rest of us.

I'll buy them even if they are in Manga size, but I would prefer the Main Books to be regular size and the Sourcebooks in Manga size.

My fear is they will be forced to use smaller print to get all the information on a smaller page.

IMO; it's stupid idea they're doing...but hey, if the sales figures sky-rocket and blow away any records, then I'll eat crow with a smile on my face.

I don't think they mean Graphic Novel size, more like the size of the Shonnen Jump magazine.
