Zenith Moon Warpers

Unread post by SpiritInterface »

My GM and I were talking about Zenith Moon Warpers after our game last Saturday because I am thinking of one for the new campaign he is looking to start. When we noticed some really interesting things that Siembieda doesn't know or is ignoring about Lunar Mechanics. The Moon doesn't just reach it's Zenith at night, but it can happen at any time of day. We were also wondering what would the effects be if there were no Moon in the sky, or multiple moons? What if you are on a Moon like the Forest Moon of Endor from Starwars? Or on a Starship traveling between stars?

Unfortunately, Those questions are much like the question of what would happen to a Vampire on a world with multiple suns or no suns, or in space: It really comes down to how much the effects are based on scientific criteria and how much is arbitrary "Maaagic".

I think the intent was that the moon is only "Active" at night even though you can very well see it during the day at times if you look in the right spot.

Ironically, the "what happens to Vamps in space" thing actually got answered in one of the Phase World books, IIRC.

I dont remember the answer, but your post made me think of it.

I've been rereading the PW books recently and I haven't seen anything about that. Do you know what it's in reference too?

IIRC, its in Three Galaxies; one of the systems has undead in it or something. Its not like a major section.

I dont remember it well, just that it was mentioned. I haven't hit the 3Gs books yet for my "Weird finds". Been spending most of my leisure time playing Vidya Gaems right now. Currently mired in Divinity: Original Sin

Update:

I was both right and wrong; one of the systems has a vampire infestation, but it doesn't have rules for "in space, X", it just mentions that the vampires like the planet because the sun is only out for 9 hours a day.

Im positive ive read something in one of the PW books though, about a ship with vampires on it or some such. Ill keep looking sporadically.

page 163 of Aliens Unlimited mentions "Traditional Vampires" but strangely there's no mention of how sunlight works in space for them.

There's a 2011 post by Drewkitty at https://palladiumbooks.com/forums/viewt ... 8&t=122521 suggesting there might be something else in the Galaxy Guide but I can't find it.

Thanks everyone. My GM said that that would be pretty much be the answer. He said don't ask questions like that they make the GM's head hurt.

You mean just asking works? My old group of players did nothing for more than 20 years but ask questions that made my head hurt and the more it hurt, the weirder the questions got.

It's the same with our primary GM (we all take turns to give him a break) and sometimes the runs get weirder.

They stopped asking questions that made my head hurt when I brought my horror clicks Cthulhu miniature to the table. Every one was on their best behavior. It just sits on a book shelf during games most the time now. There has only been a few times that a GM ever felt the need to bring it closer to the games. Usually when part of the group is overly disruptive to their sanity.
The Clones are coming you shall all be replaced, but who is to say you have not been replaced already.

Master of Type-O and the obvios.

Soon my army oc clones and winged-monkies will rule the world but first, must .......

I may debate canon and RAW, but the games I run are highly house ruled. So I am not debating for how I play but about how the system works as written.

Yeah my original group wasn't that easily swayed. I think in a way they wanted there characters to die in some really messed up way. But that is a good way to show your displeasure.
