Blue Cyclone Combat and E-Clip charging HoverCycle

Unread post by Emerald MoonSilver »

Here is our little group's converted Blue Cyclone hovercycle, originally called the Street Tornado. I hope you enjoy all three versions of this little toy :-D 8)

Blue Cyclone
Custom Hovercycle

The Blue Cyclone custom hovercycle is a modified version of the original Nema designed “Street Tornado” hovercycle. The name comes from the light blue metallic paint job that covers the vehicle’s thermo ceramic armor. This is the second vehicle produced by the New Sacramento government to use this new armor type.

This armor causes any type of fire or plasma weapon, including magic and psionics, to do half damage.

The vehicle comes in three different versions. The first is a nuclear powered cycle with a twin firing laser pulse cannon and missiles for weapons. The second is an electric cycle that uses a modified Triax pump rifle as the primary weapon.

Now as for the third type, that is truly the unique one. It was created by the son of one the Blue Cyclone’s designers.

This third version completely removes the large rocket thrusters while retaining the nuclear engine and single original laser pulse gun. Taking the place of these systems is a large number of e-clip chargers. Inside the main body are chargers for 8 standard or extended e-clips as well as space for 4 canister clips. Outside, where the main rocket nozzle used to be are links to recharge an additional 8 canister clips charging ports hidden behind armor panels. This basically turns the vehicle into a small, mobile e-clip “gas station” if you will.

The idea was originally thought to be ridiculous, but when 2 prototypes were made and displayed, the response was shockingly positive, and many people wanted to pre-order the vehicle right then and since then has outsold the other versions by factor or 2 to 1.

Why would people want this? Well it turned out to be the perfect vehicle or a young merchant or retired adventurer to make a decent living from, especially in rural areas, where e-clip chargers aren’t in great supply. The hovercycles can travel from hamlet to hamlet and isolated farm and provide a valuable service.

This has also been quite lucrative career for a person to set up the chargers in one of the burbs outside of various C.S. cities. The cycles in their first year of release were soon seen as far away as Free Quebec. The N.G.R., who partnered with New Sacramento, is also producing these new vehicles from their factory in Merctown.

The young man who created this vehicle, a young Fennodi by the name of Greesen Tuhsimshen, is now on his way to becoming a wealthy and popular figure in New Sacramento.
When asked how he came up with the idea, the young man said that the idea just “popped” into his head when he saw his father working on the then prototype cycles.

He is now enrolled in a local technical college and earns a small credit amount for each cycle sold. He was also gifted with one of the first “Charger Bikes” off the assembly line.

Speed:

Flying: 250 mph maximum without using the rocket thrusters. 350 mph with the thrusters engaged. Cruising speed ranges from 70 to 150 mph though. The vehicle is a VTOL and can hover in place, move straight up and down and from side to side. It also has a follow mode where the pilot can lead the vehicle by pulling on an attachable cord, with or without the retractable landing gear lowered.

The maximum altitude is 2000 feet.

Water: The vehicle can skim across the surface of water at 200 mph but is not submersible.

Flying Range: The nuclear engine can be flown for up to 12 hours before the thrusters overheat.

The electric version has a range of 1000 miles before it needs to be recharged.

Statistical Data:

Height: 6 feet
Width: 6 feet from wingtip to wingtip
Length: 13 feet
Weight: 1000 pounds

Cargo: Only enough to stow an energy rifle, 3 e-clips and a backpack (usually hooked to the outside), but it can pull up to 1 ton of cargo at a 30% loss of speed. The rocket thrusters can not be used while towing for obvious reasons.

Power Systems: Nuclear, with a 20 year life span, or an electric engine.

Cost and Availability: All three versions have good availability in general with excellent availability in MercTown, the Colorado Baronies, and in several places in California.

The combat version (BCH-55) averages 1.1 Million credits, with the electric version going for 275 thousand credits, and the e-clip charging version (BCH-57CB) averaging 950 thousand credits.
