Supernatural Strength with other attacks

Unread post by Deathangel2890 »

Question for everyone, how do you rule SN strength with other attacks. The damage listed says it's for power punches, standard punches, and restrained punches. What if someone with SN strength wants to kick? Or elbow? And what about beings with SN strength and claws? Or fangs?

Also, am I the only one who thinks not adding PS to bites or headbutts with SN strength is, well, stupid? I know SN bite and jaws is a separate power, but even that is ridiculous to me. Especially with it being a major power! This is obviously opinion, just wanted to see if others felt the same way.

Anyway, to you more experienced GMs and players, how do you rule these things?

Personally, I dislike the idea that the different Strength powers offer additional damage. I think the different tiers as levels of raw power and lifting and carrying strength. I actually think the differences between the different tiers is minute when it comes to damage. I mean, if you have an Extraordinary PS of 40 or a SN PS of 30, damage is damage, and it seems odd that the SN does more.

That being said, someone here had posted a different PS Scale (Kittenstomp maybe?) that had regular, Extraordinary, Superhuman, Supernatural and Cosmic strength. This scale fell more in line with some of the Heavy Hitters of our favorite comics (lifting wise).

In the grand scheme of things, an extra 20 or 30 points of damage isn't a huge difference if you're already doling out 100+ points of damage with a punch does it?

I posted Kittenstomp's Damage Tables in another thread because they are no longer appearing in these Forums. I will post them again here.

an old GM of mine used to up the die for kicks. As for head buts and bite attacks, it was usually 1/2 the PS Strength bonus in damage.

Depends on what you are hitting?

An ancient dragon, yes, those points are needed as they accumulate.

the Average police officer that gets hit from omniman? Yeah he is paste and a blood smear.

The one with a SNPS of 30 can lift 5,000 pounds more than someone with a ExPS of 40. Why shouldn't that be applied to how hard they hit as well?
