Re: Rifter Annual #85

I got my copy and flipped through it - I didn't really read anything much in detail other than the introductions. I had no idea Sean had been brought in to second for Kevin - not a bad choice, IMHO. (I don't spend a lot of time around these forums, so I hadn't heard it before.) It felt really good t...

Re: Megaverse® Insider

Here's the strategy to avoid stress with PB proposed dates or for most any Kickstarter: take their announced date of delivery and add ONE YEAR. If it comes before then, boom be happy. Otherwise, don't stress it. So, basically treat them as kickstarter rewards... my slogan is "Half a year late ...

Enjoying Scott's Murmurs

I just read through Scott Gibbons' first 'real' murmur, about business smalls, and I like what I read. Nicely written, explained the topic well, ended right where it needed to be. Makes me feel good about him joining the company, and I look forward to what he's going to say next.

Ok, they kickstarted that comic a while ago, and it got funded. I wasn't able to help at the time, but I was able to buy it latter. So the question is, why didn't it go any further? What was missing? And yes, I did like the stories that were in it. What comic are you talking about? Greeting...

Re: Project on Hold

Trolling I'm sympathetic, myself. I think as much publicity about what happened with Robotech is only helpful - if anything, it's an example of what out of control stretch goals and addons can do. Personally, I think that the fact that the campaign was put on hold makes me think that Carmen's compa...

BTW, has anyone played the Rifts boardgame? Any bloggers do a review yet? I'd be interested to read a 3rd party take on the game. Yeah, I think one of the reasons the campaign's been put on hold, is that Carmen's realized that he needs to set up some reviews on the game to have on the front page. I...

Well, this is interesting. Carmen has decided to cancel the current kickstarter, and plans to re-launch it later on, now that he's got an idea of what his backers are expecting from him early on. I like it - it shows a good level of maturity. There's a number of projects which have cancelled once, r...

Thanks Steve. It's really hard to see comments in the cesspool that the comments have become on kickstarter - people are too interested in arguing on both sides of the kickstarter than talking about the game, although sadly Carmen's given us precious little on how the game is supposed to work. I'm fairly sure there's 1000 fans who would lay down money for the game, but I'm not sure if there's 1500 Rifts fans who would lay down money for the game. Beyond the Supernatural is set up to be an adventure/Horror RPG. Where Call of Cthulhu (which is a fantastic game) isn't as good for high-action/combat style monster hunting, the BtS game is better set up for handling that. Most of the characters have cool powers, something not as easy to do in CoC,...

It might be interesting to put a few clues as to what sort of a creature attacked North at the beginning - maybe not say what it was, but give a brief description of what North remembers from the experience.

But that's a great framework for an agency to work with (or against) the PCs.

Some of the ideas for odd and interesting new ways to recharge powers in UA would be interesting to do in BtS as well.
