A Mystic character wants an cybernetic implant

Unread post by darthauthor »

So rules on cybernetics and magic users/psychics.
I looked some stuff up in the bionics book.
Says if they get a limb replaced or 3 implants they lose half their magic and or psychic abilities.

Characters wants to get:

CC-2020 Bio-Camera Eye (New) from ther Heroes of Humanity book on page 102.
It is supposed to be a bio-system eye with a camera.
What does it count as?
1 implant?
Is an eyeball a limb?
Do they need both eyes to be replaced?
Do they keep their full magic and psychic ability?

I would not have a single bio-system, especially an eye, count against their magic.

As Library Ogre said, bio-systems have no impact.

However, the CC-2020 is not a bio-system eye. It simply "looks even more natural and lifelike than anything short
of a Bio-System eye
" (emphasis added). Though it uses a biological casing, it falls a bit short of being a true a bio-system eye.

So, the CC-2020 counts towards one of the three implants.

Note that the impact on magic and psionics changed significantly between the pre-RUE bionics sourcebook and RUE, so be clear with your player which rules you plan to apply to their Mystic.

Grazzik,

Your attention to detail is impressive and fair.

The conclusion:

"So, the CC-2020 counts towards one of the three implants."
