Having read the 3 or 4 most recent sniper threads, I thought that one possible solution might inlcude a TW or magic (for example, the Native American greater damage fetish) straight conversion from SDC to MDC would pretty much solve the issue. Then you get 1D6x10 or 1D6x10+10 MDC .50 BMG sniper rifles. Furthermore, since the base technology and the round itself is SDC (it is the TW/magic modified gun that converts it), you certainly could use the explosive rounds from Mercenaries. So, now you have a .50 BMG explosive round doing 3D6x10 or 3D6x10+30 MDC from a TW/magic rifle.

Using the TW/magic modified SDC weapons platforms would allow you to draw directly upon real life weapons, ammunition, ranges, and techniques.

For those magic phobic people (I myslef hate magic but love psionics) this could also be accomplished as a psionic device using TK powers as a booster. You could say, alright we modify the weapon so that it inludes TK boosters that multiply the damage by 100 times. SDC x100 = MDC.

So, whether you prefer magic or psionics, either one can give you the easy ability to do straight SDC to MDC conversions.

BTW, an explosive .50 BMG round does exist IRL, it is called the Raufos round I beleive and made in Sweden. It is actually a high explosive, armor piercing incediary round. Also, there are all those house rules regarding AP.

Now if you say NO to BOTH magic AND psionics then we are left with a strictly technological solution. In this case, the modified ramjets are very interesting. Additionally the TX16 rounds are also appropriate bases. One could modify the TX16 round by having the same prjectile/warhead but a larger case/propellent load for greater range/impact. If you want to get facny about it you can even have the projectile evelped in a more aerodynamically suitable shell/jacket or even go with sabots. Lastly you could simply make larger and/or different shaped versions of the same munition concept.

Don't forget that with the K-hex explosives you get another 25% damage bringing the TX16 projectile to 5D6 and with customized explosives as per Mercenaries you get +50% damage, bringing them to 6D6.

Lastly, don't forget to use sound suppressors (they do MUCH more than just suppress sound), even when using super sonic projectiles they are very very valuable.

Now as far as scopes/imaging goes, just use real life, inlcuding bleeding edge or soon to be stuff, downsized of course.
