Finnally!

Unread post by Alpha 11 »

Finnally started working on the minis! Got a Tomahawk and VF-1R in fighter done! No missles on the fighter. Wondering if I should keep it that way and just say what is on it when the game begins. Had a hard time with putting the legs on the body of the Tomahawk.

So did I. The legs are hard to get glued just exactly how you want them. You have a lot of freedom to post the legs you just have to hold things in place for a good while so that the glue is somewhat dry. Using things to hold leg and torso into place helps.

Had the same issue with the Tomahawk as well.

I agree with your plan for the fighters, Alpha 11. I put missiles on mine, but I just like the way they look. Leaving them as a blank canvas is probably a better bet, though.

I think I'm leaning that way. I can always put them on latter though. Finished up the other Tomahawk and got 2 Vf-1 A's in fighter mod done. Planning on doing like 2 a day and about 4 to 6 on Saturdays. I think I should be done by OH, and yes, painted, also. Most likely they won't have much one them, maybe just primer and 2 or so colors.

I find the fighters to be the easiest of the three models to build.

The Guardians and Battloids, however, can be significantly more finicky.

But keep up the steady progress.

I wish they would have given a reason. If it made sense, then I would understand, but since they haven't given any, its not helping their image. And 5 more VF-1A's done! All VF-1's in fighter mold done!

How about some pics?

"finished 2 guardians" only means so much when thousands of people are potentially building hundreds of thousands of figures.

So instead of just being a running list of completing a couple figures here and there, why not show 'em off?

:-( Good ideal, just don't know how. :-( Another reason why I'm doing this is to help keep me going. To motivate me. And yes, I do have some pictures. Will have to take some more.

I don't believe this forum allows for embedding pictures in posts, but you can always share links.

I'm a fan of a site called photobucket for that.

Got the other battleloid done on Wed. Other things were going on the other days so couldn't get anything done. Got 2 more done today and an Officer Pod. All 3 were a pain. In fact, the first 2 battleloids went together more easily then the last 2 did. Also got some pictures. Will hopefully get them upload sometime soon so you can all see them. Had hope to get more done today, but those 3 wouldn't corroperate.

Congratz, I got my wave 1 yesterday and have managed 3 pods and a battloid so far (battloid last night took just over an hour, pods i got all three done in a hour easily this morn.)

I can defiantly see where people are complaining about the piece count of some of the models, it does seem a trifle excessive but the miniatures are still good quality and if i'm honest the piece count isn't that off-putting but I do have many armies assembled over many years for many games under my belt so used to it.

Keep on trucking Alpha!

Thanks! And honestly, all they would need to do is combine just a few of the pieces, like the tiny one on the battloid, IMO, and it would be fine. And game was cancled. Wonder why I even tried. :-( Will still finish those battle pods I was going to use in the game, then go back to the regular assembly line, the guardians of the VF.

This page is first, so you can see them in order. Didn't get pictures for the last 2 I did today uploaded. You will also see some of the GHQ modes I have in some pictures for the size differences. Enjoy!

Got 2 more J's done! And it looks like I'll be able to finish the rest tomarrow, with the exception of one. Missing pieces for that one, so I'll have to wait for Palladium to send a replacement. And maybe, I'll be able to start on some of the Battloids also tomarrow if I have time.

So far i've only assembled A's and J's though I have put together a few R heads to put in my ever growing Bits Box.

Like the S its a bit fiddly putting them together (whoever though pieces that small needed to be separated must have the smallest hands ever) but otherwise no.

However the delay on building my box should be done with now as the magnets I ordered so I can have changeable Artillery Pod options have arrived, now to see if I can put them together properly. Oh and decide whether or not I want to magnitise the missile hardpoints on the Valks.

I've heard about those magnets and seen the results, but not sure which ones to get. Don't want to get the wrong ones, so, what size is the best for our mini's? And maybe a link also, please?
