S of Od - good explanation. i like it. last game i did it something like your way, with a twist... if they succeeded at their prowl check, they were good to go; if they failed, the enemy got a perception check.

Stealth Mechanics
Long time player and GM (who's always getting stumped by Vek), how do you guys handle stealth checks vs active perception checks. D20 can easily convert to %, that's easy, but, do you then subtract the players prowl skill from the perception, the perception from the prowl, etc?

I say any magic that is elemental in nature would affect it.
Also, RAW in Western Empires talks about holy symbols and such, so, i'll go wit h RAW.
With the carpet of adhesion, i will give the mist (vamp) a save with positive modifier, and if fail, will slow it to half move, if save, no effect.

I would use the book as a baseline, but modify it by what you are doing. A lot in all of these books is subjective. Hell, majority of the time things are contradictory.

I would say you saved against that could and it doesn't need rerolling. Like being inoculated against that specific strain of magic weave.

I would GM it that when cast, whoever casts it can either write the message and the pigeon then transforms into the scroll and disappear once read...or...the caster speaks his message and it is then delivered as a recording, your choice. 1 time try for recording it and then one time use upon delivery.

IMO, the talisman (or whatever magic items) allow you to cast the spell that it has imprinted on it. so, per the spell description, that's what i would go by. self, other, enemy.... whatever the spell description says.

I think there should be a save for each. Spells are pulled from 'the ether' and have their own individual fingerprint. If one were to walk into 6 clouds of slumber stacked on each other, then I think 6 saves are warranted. That being said, a caveat would be if opposing magic was cast, and then it GM...

Most of the powers do not have the greatest description of the powers... are they visible or not? Is the mind bolt an actual bolt of mind "energy" flying at the target to be able to dodge, as per the book? Is the force field invisible or a shimmering shell? You don't see a shimmering link ...

I think that the pact giver has the power to have the familiar to be able to change form...but it should come at a cost. IMO, the armor stops 1/2 damage and the rest is passed on to the person. so if 20 points of damage was rolled from, 10 would be passed on to the person. Well, as Kiralon and Logan said, the rules do somewhat address this. With no H2H skill, and no weapon, the animal can only parry with a straight die roll and it will take an attack. So, why would it bother? They should just dodge or rely on natural armor/SDC and attack with no regard for defense. I...

Most of the time surprises have been planned out already so its not really an issue, not to mention i have a handy little table that helps, also i only tend to roughly calculate it on surprise surprises and only do it fully if the rolls are close. So, prowl skill, if passed, will get you a surprise on an enemy? how does their perception or spot ambush come into play? i like Vek's idea of if it is planned right, it should succeed, for an ambush, but if someone has to sneak, then it is a skill check.

i think that TK, just like magic, breaks any semblance of physics. all the laws of the real world disappear with use of magic and psi powers.

Great answers, Thanks! I do similar things. Just wanted to see what everyone else does. the only one I have problem with is the Perception vs prowl. I read somewhere that each 10% gives a +/- to the opposed roll, like if A has Prowl of 90%, that would be a -9 to the perception roll of B... opinions?

so, if someone casts a sleep spell or something similar. (any spell/psy-power, etc) that puts you to sleep, or immobilizes...that's an autokill on the PC/NPC?
